  • Prouds
    • Desire to help
    • Being able to help a friend even if only a little
    • Build school wide support
    • Telling a parent about a friend’s problem

  • Regrets
    • Regret believing all the excuses of a friend
    • Regret not seeing the signs when they were right in front of me
    • Regret lack of support in their schools
    • Regret it when parents deny the problem

  • Actions
    • Listen more
    • Create environment with parents for learning
    • Show love/acceptance towards others
    • Create more discerning consumers to understand what’s real vs. product
    • Educate about media and it’s effects on society

PROGRAM FINDINGS FROM BREAKOUT SESSION 2

  • Prouds
    • As parents and Educators: able to recognize when we make comments that may promote eating disorder tendencies – and that we encourage our children to eat healthy and exercise in moderation.
    • Not talk about (as a parent) of their negative body image
    • We are not anorexic, we are proud of who we are and we don’t go along with the crowd

  • Regrets
    • Think of being something you aren’t
    • Not knowing that someone is struggling with eating disorders
    • Getting sucked into eating disorders
    • Not knowing the signs of eating disorders
